November Prayer Breakfast

Guest Speaker: Fr. Nilo Macapinlac

Fr. Nilo Macapinlac owes his calling to the priesthood to Jesus Christ, the perfect High Priest, who communicated His Divine Will for him through the voice of his earthly parents, Jose Jr. and Maggie, and by their daily family prayers to St. Anthony of Padua, which inspired him to imitate their devotion and to share this with others in his ministry as a priest.

The seed was planted and his journey began. God watered and nourished this little seed by means of a childhood dream to one-day visit St. Anthony’s shrine in Padua, which was realized in September 2009 on a pilgrimage to Portugal. Recalling his parent’s prayerful devotion to him, and wishing to carry on this family tradition, he purchased many prayer cards and other religious items to distribute to his village community after his return home to Canada.

Fr. Nilo Belvis Macapinlac was ordained to the priesthood by Thomas Cardinal Collins on November 2005. He is the second Filipino priest ordained in the Archdiocese of Edmonton. He became pastor of St Martin of Tours in Vegreville and at the same time serving Viking and Holden. Fr. Nilo is the current pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Wetaskiwin. Also serves as Administrator for the Parishes of Our Lady of Sorrows in Maskwacis and St.Theresa in Ma-Me-O Beach.
